Tete Jaune Lodge History: Tete Jaune Lodge was built in 1969. The Lodge was built by Bert Van Asten who also converted the old homestead into a restaurant. The log cabin cafe was built in 1922 from logs cut at Rearguard falls and floated down the Fraser River to this location. Built by Reg Le’Strange, it changed ownership in 1945 when the Rathbone family arrived from the United States. They immediatly moved into the log home. Their grandson lives just up the road and loves to tell old tales of the farm & area – including the bullet hole in the cafe wall. We were just visited by Denis Blakeman who owned the lodge in the early 1970’s when is was named ‘Overlander 11’. He was president of the Snowmobile Association and brought the first sledders to the Valemount area. His group were the first to go into the Renshaw area when the new Ski-doos came out in 1975.
