Arm yourself with a GPS, plug in your coordinates and treasure hunt through Valemount on your next geocaching adventure.
A modern day adventurer, you know the treasure is out there and it’s up to you to unearth it. A day spent geocaching in the Robson Valley will take you off the well-trodden pathways, past babbling brooks and through the quiet cool of lush Interior forests. You’re getting closer! Start to scour the ground in front of you, check at the bases of trees, lift rocks and peer underneath — you’re almost there! Will you know how to spot the treasure? Some of the more than two-dozen caches in the Valemount area are clearly visible, while others are tiny — no bigger than a fingernail — so keep your GPS handy and your eye on the prize.
Some people call it a sport, while others call it a game. Whatever you call it, geocaching has gained in popularity in the Robson Valley and throughout the world. All you need to get started is a GPS (or a smart phone) and an account through GeoCaching.com. Log in and download coordinates to the various caches in the area and use your GPS to guide you to the location. When you find a cache you’ll also find a journal, so record your adventure! You might also come across a few trinkets, so take a piece of the treasure and replace it with something you’ve brought.
