Arts
Artists have long been drawn to Valemount and the Robson Valley for its unlimited inspiration.
Discover the Artsy Side of Valemount
Explore the artsy side of Valemount and find that perfect memento to take home. Many of our artists sell their arts and crafts throughout the area. If you’re looking for something in particular, pop in to the Visitor Centre and we’ll let you know where to go to find that perfect piece for your collection.
Leave Your Stress at the Door!
As you step into the Gathering Tree, tantalizing smells wind their way to you from the kitchen. But don’t go into the restaurant just yet. Browse the gift section and see what’s waiting for you to discover. Most people can feel the tranquil energy in this homey eclectic space. There’s something interesting to see almost everywhere you look.
There is so much in one place you may need to come back a second time. Find your new favourite book as you peruse the collection of local authors. Browse through the locally made metaphysical jewellery, the homemade rocking chairs and rocking horses, and log house bird houses. You’ll even find some BC made bath and body products, oracles, Tibetan bowls and smudges here. Most of the items here are made locally, with the rest made right here in BC. Depending on the day you may even be able to get a massage, hypnotherapy, acupuncture, or a tarot card reading.
The Wonder of Wood
We have several talented artists in Valemount that work with wood. The Mountain Driftwood Gallery in downtown Valemount features a variety of works by local Bonnie Marklund and other local Robson Valley artisans. You can even ask Bonnie for basic watercolour or acrylic painting lessons.
Follow the blue artisan signs to Luke Hedberg’s studio where you’ll find beautiful bowls and other pieces of art, made from local burls. You can watch him here in one of his You Tube videos. You may find your next family heirloom to pass down through the ages.
Down to Earth Works of Art
Tucked away in the heart of the village you’ll find Bryan Hannis of Just Earth Pottery. His work is well known throughout BC for its beauty, practicality and durability. Bryan creates functional and attractive wood and gas-fired stoneware and artistic pieces. Each item reflects the artist’s natural surroundings.
Tasty Finds at the Valemount Farmers’ Market
Our farmers’ market is a testament to the pioneers who first settled this land. Every Thursday afternoon from late June to September you’ll find fresh, local, wholesome produce and artisanal finds at the Valemount Farmers’ Market. Wander from stall to stall at this intimate market and you’ll discover fresh picked fruits and vegetable amongst the pies, preserves, jewellery and crafts.
