Where to go

For open-air skating, the Cranberry Marsh is Valemount’s premiere outdoor skating destination. Surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of the mountain ranges, you are set for an idyllic winter skate. Access the pond off of McKirdy Road at the kayak/canoe launch area. Make sure to bring your skates, sticks, and pucks!

When to go

Valemount’s outdoor skating season begins as soon as ice reaches the desired thickness for safety, which is entirely weather-dependent. Check with Valemount Visitor Centre to find out more about conditions on the Cranberry Marsh.

Indoor skating at Canoe Valley Recreation Centre is open October through April.
