Summer Heli Hiking. Using the helicopter to reach the alpine, a heli hiking tour takes us into the Selwyn Range and the Rocky Mountain Ranges, just outside the Mount Robson Provincial Park. Mt Robson drop offs in the Summer are limited to Mondays and Fridays Weather permitting. General heli hiking is available any time of the year so feel free to give us a call.
Mountain weather can change quickly and without warning, so it pays to be well prepared. Better to bring items and not need them rather than experience discomfort. We suggest the following for your helihike: Footwear such as hiking boots or good walking shoes Sunglasses & sunscreen Windproof jacket Warm sweater Hat or toque Camera and lots of film. The difficulty of your hike is geared to the ability of the group – this is NOT mountain climbing. This is an opportunity to experience the mountains in a way most people never can.
Advance reservations are highly recommended due to the restrictions on both landing days and number of passengers per day imposed by the Provincial Park. A Visa or Mastercard number on file is required to hold the space. Full payment charged on the day of the flight.
Please contact us or check our website for specific information on travel plans, rates, flight dates, flight times and reservations. Cancellation Policy-30 days prior flight date. Last minute cancellations not accepted. There will be no charge for cancellations due to bad weather. Usually waiting an hour or two allows conditions to change. No postponing flights to next day. Restriction of 35 lbs. of gear per person. Pack to reduce bulk, a gear surcharge may be applied to cover additional flying, or some gear might not be allowed. Climbing party reservations must be made directly with Yellowhead Helicopters. Camping spots are available for reservation 3 months in advance through Discover Camping at 1-800-689-9025. If no advance campsites are available, there is a registration/reservation program in place for camping spots through the Mount Robson Visitors Centre on the afternoon prior to, or the day of the flight. To date, there are no requirements for trail registration for day hikers on the Berg Lake Trail. Hike out time is approximately 6 to 8 hours, a distance of 24 km.
