During August observe the spawning Chinook Salmon in nearby George Hicks Regional Park.

Welcome! Everyone is welcome at Valemount Visitor Information Centre; a beautiful log building located on the west side along Highway 5 in Valemount. Stop in for great local and Provincial information, room reservations, or to book your holiday adventures. Take a break from driving while you eat a snack at one of our picnic tables and take in the breathtaking views.

Valemount is surrounded by mountains – the Canadian Rocky Mountains, the Cariboo Mountains and the Monashee Mountains. The Visitor Information Centre is an excellent viewpoint for Mount Pierre Elliott Trudeau, which is located in the Premier Mountain Range. This mountain range was named to honour some of our past Canadian Prime Ministers.

Want to learn more about the Fraser River Chinook Salmon? Live, entertaining interpretive programs are offered in the evening during the month of August. We are located next to George Hicks Regional Park where you can observe the spawning Chinook Salmon nearing the end of their journey from the Pacific Ocean. Check out our fun, interactive displays about the Chinook Salmon, including a life-sized model of an adult Chinook Salmon. Need to shop for that special souvenir? One Stop Shopping – Book local outdoor recreation activities like whitewater rafting, float trips, helicopter tours, and Jeep or ATV tours; purchase fishing licences; purchase tickets for attractions throughout BC; and book your accommodations in Valemount and the rest of BC – all at the Visitor Information Centre. Internet access and Free WIFI is also available.
